Safaricom Graduate Engineer Jobs Opening.

We are pleased to announce the following vacancy in the Chief Technical Officer’s Office within the Technical Division. In keeping with our current business needs, we are looking for a person who meets the criteria indicated below.
Graduate Engineer Ref: TECHNICAL_GE_MAY_2010
Reporting to the Chief Technical Officer’s Office, the holder of the position will be rotated in Technical division for a period of 3 months and thereafter be deployed into the various departments within the division. During the 3 months rotation; the holder of the position will understand of the division’s operations, processes & procedures and appreciate the GSM network environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Perform network planning with emphasis on cell, frequency and optimization planning for new sites; modeling planning of backbone transmission and equipment;

* Rollout of the network through conducting standard works and requirements for a new sites, acquisition of sites and performing site debar activities;
* Maintenance of the network through monitoring/detection of faults, conducting fault escalation mechanisms and network optimization initiatives;
* Appreciate and understand the various technologies, procedures and process within the business;
Minimum requirements
* Recently graduated: B.Sc./B.Tech (1st class or 2nd Upper Honours) degree in Electrical/Electronics engineering, Civil, Computer engineering with bias towards telecommunications;
* Relevant work experience through industrial attachment, internship or formal employment;
* Certifications in the following field e.g. CCNA, CCIP, knowledge on Unix and IP network will have an added advantage;
* Excellent oral, written communication and report writing skills; Project management skills will be an added advantage;
* Must be a highly committed, self-motivated, confident, and enthusiastic and have the ability to perform well under pressure;
