Stanbic Investment Management Services (E.A) Ltd, is the leading Fund Manager across the East African region. We currently manage over Kes 80 Billion of capital assets for a diverse range of clients across several sectors. We are looking for an Investment/Research Analyst, based in Nairobi, to join the East African investment team.
The job
The primary responsibility of this role is to provide support to the portfolio management function through:
- Analysis of financial information to forecast business, industry, and economic conditions, for use in making investment decisions.
- Carrying out macro-economic, industry and company research.
- Evaluating the performance of portfolio companies not limited to financial statement analysis.
- Gathering and analyzing company financial statements, industry, regulatory and economic information from financial periodicals and newspapers.
- Summarizing of data describing current and long term trends in investment risks and economic influences pertinent to investments.
- Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree preferably in a business related course with a bias towards Finance, Commerce or Economics.
- Professional qualifications in CFA or be a registered student actively pursuing the CFA qualification.
- Working experience of at least 3 years in a research related function
- Ability to construct and utilize financial models.
- Ability to communicate both orally and in writing with a wide range of people.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct, evaluate and examine companies and industries for the purposes of conducting research.
- Experience in working on software packages (e.g. spreadsheets, Microsoft applications, Reuters, Bloomberg)
- Ability to construct and utilize financial models.
- Ability to make informed and persuasive recommendations.
- Broad and up-to-date understanding of company financial statements.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
