TECHNICIAN (INSTRUMENTATION& CONTROL)



Introduction

Job Summary:

Reporting to The Technical Services Engineer, ideal candidate should be able to
carry out repairs and maintenance on plant control and monitoring equipment. The
equipment, electronic and electro mechanical construction such as techno graphs,
speedometers gauges, sensors. This also includes calibration and trouble shooting of
these equipment and systems.
 

Minimum Requirements

Educational Requirements:

“O”level

Diploma in Electrical Engineering (Instrumentation& Control)- from National
Universities/University Colleges or KNEC

Related Job Experience/Qualifications:

At least 3 years experience in similar function

Additional skills:

Ms Office proficiency

Good Leadership, supervisory, interpersonal and analytical skills.

 

Job Specification

Key Duties:

Duty/responsibility

•Installs, maintains repair, overhauls calibrates and test a wide
variety of industrial instruments.

•Troubleshot telemetry and process controller hardware,
maintains a functional knowledge of operation of telemetry
system

•Makes periodic preventive maintenance inspection of all
control instruments, cleans lubricates calibrates and adjusts

•Lays out , install and place into service new metering ,
controlling and recording devises calibration as required

•Reads and interprets wiring diagrams mechanical drawings
and specifications in making installations or performing major
repair works

•Makes estimates of labour, materials and supplies as
necessary for the performance of specific assignments. Keeps
records, makes verbal and written reports of work performed

•Troubleshoot telemetry, SCADA and PLC software and
hardware knowledge of the theory of programmable logic
controls and main machine interface software and hardware.

•ABCD

•Coaching and guiding new staff and serving staff on
procedures of work and new way of doing work.

•Attends to Break downs of instrumentation equipments.

Occasional duties:

The job holder may be called upon to being a resource person during on the job training

Responsibility:

The job holder is responsible for repair and maintenance of various electrical
equipments.

Judgement and Decision-Making:

The job holder has authority to make decision and judgement regarding stoppage of machines to
undertake repair and maintenance on Instrument and control equipments.

Contacts:

Internal contacts: Operations and support staff.

External contacts: Trainees and suppliers.

Work environment:

The job holder works 10% in the office and 90 % within the plant and workshop. The
job holder is exposed to hazards/dangers working with live electrical wires and moving
machine parts.
