Introduction
The jobholder is responsible for operating, installing, repairing and maintaining
electrical equipment.
Minimum Requirements
Educational Requirements:
‘O’ Level
Craft Certificate from DIT, or KNEC
Related Job Experience/Qualifications:
At least 1 year experience in similar function
Additional skills:
Ms Office proficiency
Good Leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills
Job Specification
Key Duties:
Duty/responsibility
•Repair and maintenance of machines and equipment. This
includes rewinding of generators and motors.
•Oil filtration and regeneration of transformers.
•Maintenance of circuit breakers
•Transformer oil sampling, testing and analysis.
•General electrical and lighting repairs in the Central workshop,
Central stores and at Stima Plaza.
•Control panel wiring.
Occasional duties:
The job holder may be called upon to:
•Verifying & receiving of electrical spares from suppliers.
•Painting of repaired electrical equipment.
•Welding and grinding.
•Receiving and dispatch of electrical equipment from /to internal/external customers.
Responsibility:
The job holder has shared responsibility with other staff over the following equipment :-
•Transformers, generators, oil filtration plants, rewinding machines, oil testing
equipments, lathe machine, drilling machines, brazing machine, compressors &
welding machines.
Judgement and Decision-Making:
The job holder provides recommendation on repairs and maintenance of machines and
equipments. In addition, provides technical advice on electrical equipment to internal and
external customers.

Work environment:
The job holder spends 60% of time in workshop, 30% of time in switch yard and 10%
of time in office. The job holder faces hazard when working with live electrical contacts,
lifting loads & disruption to leisure when called upon to work outside working hours.
