utritionist Vacancy - MEDAIR

Nutritionist

Applications are hereby invited from qualified persons to ii the position mentioned above, based in Southern Sudan. Medair South Sudan is looking for a Nutritionist for its emergency response team and Primary Health Care Programme. (50% ERT and 50%PHC)
Location: Juba Southern Sudan

Responsibilities Include:
For Emergency Response Team:
  • Assessment of nutrition needs in remote areas, making recommendations and coming up with intervention strategies
  • Implement and interpret nutrition surveys and assessments
  • Contributing and coordinate in planning and carrying out nutrition responses regarding nutritional emergencies
  • Checking inventory to ensure accurate nutritional inventory as well as preparation of nutritional part of field trip, check and inventories are kept in field locations
  • Ensure adequate stocks of nutrition equipment
  • Ensure timely nutritional equipment supplies requests are submitted to the Project Manager
  • Meet with counter parts/local leaders/at the onset of and during the time ERT is on ground as requested by the Project Manager.
  • Responsible for diagnosis of nutrition patients and ensure the correct treatment is prescribed
  • Provision and coordination of appropriate nutritional education at household and clinic levels
For Primary Health Care Programme
  • Provision of technical support for the PHC team, primarily through periodic 3-4 week visits to the programme sites in Upper Nile State
  • Review assessment and management of malnutrition in health facilities
  • Assist with capacity building of County Health Departments in managing and supervising nutrition programmes General
  • Training and supervision of local M0H health staff or staff from partner NGO using the GoSS MoH guidelines
  • Give input to Medair’s and Southern Sudan nutrition policy and guidelines
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of activities
  • Liaison with partner NGO’s, local authorities and MoH
The suitable candidate should have the following attributes:
  • Bsc/Msc or equivalent in Nutrition or related degree
  • Working experience in Southern Sudan
  • At least 2 years working experience in nutrition in humanitarian relief programmes
  • Excellent communication skills (oral & written)
  • High sense of responsibility, good organisational, coordination and time management skills
  • Flexibility and willingness to work extended and irregular hours due to emergencies
  • Team player and be aL9e to work in a diverse cultural working environment
  • Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Word and Excel, computer programmes for statistic analysis (SMART)
