Purpose of the Position
Under the supervision of the Chief, Planning and Monitoring, with close guidance of the Donor Relations/ Contributions Management Specialist and in coordination with the Emergency Officers, you will manage results-based information systems to support a range of internal and external reporting and proposal development functions. Key Expected Results
Collect and analyze data for the Situation Analysis, programme/project planning, management, monitoring and evaluation purposes. Analyze programme implementation reports and evaluate against established programme recommendations and plans of action. Prepare tables, graphs and other statistical data. Report outcome of analysis using Emergency Info. In particular:
- Work with programme sections on establishing realistic and consistent definitions for target beneficiaries, beneficiaries reached, and cost per beneficiary to support better results-based reporting
- Provide day to day support to aid delivery monitoring and further develop the necessary tools (in particular Emergency Info and Core Commitments for Children Monitoring Tools)
Undertake follow-up action on programme implementation activities, contribute to teamwork building, and prepare relevant reports. Draft changes in programme workplans as required. In particular:
- Provide a secretariat to the Emergency Management Team meetings (TMMs) and produces bi-weekly SITREPS of UNICEF’s emergency response.
- Draft monthly reports of UNICEF activities/results throughout Somalia, based on section / zone office monitoring and combined with inputs from Section Chiefs, while providing feedback inputs and hands on training to zone team on results based reporting.
- Work with Sections and Zones to compile clear, concise and accurate information for inclusion in the Mid-Year review of the HAR and any other Donor Updates required.
- Liaise with OCHA, PMU, FSAU etc when the office needs maps, graphics supporting documentation for our reporting and analysis.
- Support proposal development with updated situation analysis and to review the degree to which we are clearly defining planning assumptions and risk analysis in our proposals.
Qualifications of Successful Candidate
University degree in Social Sciences or related technical field.
Two years progressively responsible experience in programme design, administration, monitoring and evaluation or related field.
Analytical and conceptual ability; communication skills.
Planning and monitoring skills; ability to organize work and projects.
Ability to make timely and quality judgments and decisions.
Computer skills, including internet navigation, and various office applications.
Commitment to continuous learning for professional development.
Fluency in English and another UN language required. Knowledge of the local working language of the duty station is an asset.
