Aga Khan University Nairobi Librarian Jobs Vacancy.

The Aga Khan University invites applications for the following position based in Nairobi – Kenya.

REGIONAL LIBRARIAN
Reporting to the University Librarian (based in Karachi) the incumbent will primarily be overall responsible for the
smooth running of the library services in East Africa. Other duties will include
but not be limited to:
• Develop and implement library strategic goals
• Update and implement Library policies and procedures
• Overall responsible for all the library services at AKU EA campuses
• Responsible for budgeting and procurement of information resources required by AKU teaching, learning and
research activities
• Develop and maintain a network for inter-library cooperation for AKU East Africa, including professional
development programs for library staff
• Oversee the implementation and management of an integrated library management system
• Oversee the development and implementation of technological innovations to support AKU library strategic
goals
• Prepare and coordinate the execution of regular Information Literacy programmes to all library users in the
three campuses
• Initiate and maintain cooperation with all information resource (print / digital) providers
• Initiate and maintain cooperation with local, regional and international academic library consortia
• Supervise cataloguing and indexing of books and periodicals according to agreed international standards
• Coordinate the management and operations of Multimedia Services
• Prepare Library Annual reports and other reports related to the library services
• Ensure security and safety of the library in AKU East Africa
• Supervise library staff
• Participate within and outside AKU in forums related to library strategic goals. The candidate should have a Masters degree in Library and Information Science, have at least 10 years working
experience as a Senior Librarian at an institution of higher learning, demonstrate excellence in communication
and interpersonal skills, excellent supervisory skills and demonstrated knowledge and experience in Library ICT
Systems and international bibliographic standards (MARC, Dublin core, LCSH, MESH etc.) A PhD in Library and
Information Science will be an added advantage.
